Avanquest Software is bundling its Mobile PhoneTools application with the T500 PCI Express Data Cards from Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Asustek Computer Inc. (ASUS).

Mobile PhoneTools gives high-speed Internet access over 3G mobile networks to laptop users, virtually anytime and anywhere, and enables laptops to behave as complete full-featured mobile phones. The application connects with a single click using pre-configured connection parameters. The smart connect feature ensures that even if the SIM card in the T500 Data Card is changed, the application will connect without asking any question.

ASUS T500 card-equipped laptops powered by Avanquest’s Mobile PhoneTools will provide advanced telephony features such as conference call, call log, missed call management and call transfer, in addition to making and receiving voice calls. Additionally, Mobile PhoneTools manages text messages (SMS) and contact information between the device and popular desktop programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, and MS Exchange, as well as Lotus Notes.

ASUS is one of the main suppliers of a range of products that includes notebooks, barebone systems, servers, graphics cards, PDAs, handsets, smartphones, wireless devices, broadband modems, LCD monitors, CPU coolers, power supplies, chassis and networking switches and optical drives. The company is also the world leader in motherboard manufacturing.

“We appreciate in particular the extended voice capabilities of Mobile PhoneTools such as conference calling and missed-call management; for our customers the experience is really like having a full-featured mobile phone attached to their notebooks,” said H. C. Hung, Head of ASUS’ Handheld Business Unit. “The T500 PC Card is but a small step in our ambitious plans to incorporate WWAN connectivity to a large number of hardware devices and platforms; this is moving well beyond notebooks with embedded 3G modules.”

“This global licensing agreement provides a comprehensive, powerful and easy to use mobility solution to users of the ASUS PCI Express Card,” said David Wright, President of Avanquest Software’s Denver-based OEM Division. “Our strategic partnership with ASUS will be broadened significantly during the next quarters as we work together on innovative new solutions.”

Mobile PhoneTools supports hundreds of cellular devices from the world’s leading manufacturers and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2K, XP and Vista. Avanquest provides support for the product in over 26 languages, including Chinese, Korean, Thai, Czech and Russian.
